That conviction required him to attend a DUI education program and use an ignition interlock device, along with probation, restitution and fines.

His driving history also includes a 1957 crash in San Mateo County that killed his 19-year-old brother, The New York Times reported . Pelosi was behind the wheel, but a jury cleared him of wrongdoing.

More recently, Pelosi accumulated traffic infractions across four Bay Area counties, according to the Times. The outlet reported violations in Napa, San Mateo, Marin and San Francisco involving speeding, running a red light, driving against traffic on a one-way street and cellphone use without a hands-free device.

Prosecutors said the public attention surrounding Pelosi’s case prompted the announcement, noting that misdemeanor hit-and-run cases involving only property damage generally do not receive a news release.
