Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has condemned a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowing Russia to compete in world championships again, calling it unacceptable.

Details: Sybiha said allowing Russia to return to world championships would give Moscow the legitimacy it seeks.
Quote: "By letting Russian hockey back, CAS is staining the ice with Ukrainian blood. Russia has not stopped its war. It has not stopped killing Ukrainians. It has not stopped its relentless attacks on our cities. So what exactly has changed to justify the return of its national ice hockey teams to international competition?"
Details: Sybiha urged the international sporting community and all of Kyiv's partners to oppose Russia's return to international competitions.
Quote: "This shameful decision must be reversed. I also call on governments that have not lost their moral compass to deny Russian players entry to their territory. Russia's war must have consequences, including in international sport."
Background: The International Ice Hockey Federation previously confirmed that the Russian national team could take Ukraine's place at the 2027 World Championship. Against the backdrop of this decision, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said Russian athletes could be barred from entering Finland in 2027 .
