Quote from the DIU: "Today we are publishing [details of] 30 items of technological equipment manufactured in China, Germany, Taiwan, the US, Türkiye , Switzerland and Italy which are used by Russian factories producing ballistic missiles and their components, including altimeters, aerodynamic rudders, gyroscopes, and so on."
DIU noted an increase in the number of Chinese machine tools and machining centres, particularly five-axis ones.
Quote: "It is important to note that Chinese machine tools use European, Japanese and Taiwanese components – CNC systems, servo drives, high-precision spindles and bearings, measuring and rotary systems, linear guides, thermal stabilisation and machining process control devices, etc."
Details: The list includes the GX-650 five-axis universal machining centre made by the Chinese manufacturer Hyper Machine Tool, which is used by the Votkinsk Plant, a manufacturer of 9 M 723 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and the missile body of the Kh-47 M 2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile.
The list also includes turning and milling machining centres by the Chinese manufacturer Shtral, which are used in the production processes at PEMZ Molot JSC. The company manufactures electronic equipment units for Iskander-M missiles.
In addition, measuring equipment from the German firm Rohde & Schwarz has been installed at UPKB Detal, a company that manufactures altimeters for Zircon missiles.
DIU stressed the need to tighten control over the end users of the equipment, in particular by conducting on-site inspections at the locations where it is installed. The intelligence agency also urged that the supply of spare parts, software, consumables and maintenance be monitored.
In particular, they propose checking distributors and intermediaries, investigating cases of equipment that ends up in the Russian defence industry, and restricting the supply of CNC systems and other components to Chinese manufacturers whose products are used by Russian defence firms.
Background: Earlier, Ukrainska Pravda reported that DIU had released data on 13 items of foreign technological equipment used to produce Kometa navigation modules for Russian missiles and drones. DIU has also revealed details of the components of the Russian Kh-47 M 2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile and the companies involved in its production.
