Details: Rubio was asked whether the Ukrainian president would be invited to the G 20 summit in Miami on 14–15 December, to which Russian leader Vladimir Putin has also been invited.
He said the decision is up to US President Donald Trump.
Quote: "Look, that's a leader's-level meeting. That would be up to the president to decide. I wouldn't rule it out, especially if something positive could happen as a result of him [Zelenskyy – ed.] attending. But I don't have an announcement on that today."
Background: The US has invited Putin to the December G 20 summit in Miami, where he could hold a meeting with Trump. It was reported that Putin had rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's proposal to hold talks on ending the war on the sidelines of the G 20 summit in the US. Trump himself said he does not know whether Putin will agree to a trilateral meeting with Zelenskyy in Miami.
