Multiple people killed in Pennsylvania shooting; suspected gunman found dead: report

Authorities confirmed multiple people are dead following a shooting in Pennsylvania Friday night, including the suspected gunman, who reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police responded to a home just before 5 p. m. local time after witnesses reported seeing a person firing a weapon before entering the house, according to a report from Fox 8 Live.

Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah described the scene as the worst he had encountered in nearly three decades in law enforcement, telling local media that investigators were still trying to determine exactly what happened.

"I want to be candid with our community. This is one of the most difficult and heartbreaking scenes our officers and investigators have ever encountered. The loss of life is devastating, and the circumstances we are working through are deeply disturbing," Lorah said, according to Fox 8.

Witnesses reportedly told police they saw the shooter run into a nearby home.

Lorah confirmed to WFXP that two women had been killed, but would not confirm the exact number of victims.

"I can tell you that this is a tragic, tragic situation," Lorah said.
