Sunday Night Football kicks off at 8: 20 ET, and should be one of the more exciting games on today’s schedule. The Lions are 2-1 and looking to avoid a . 500 fate, while the Panthers are 1-2 and would love to sit at . 500 after four weeks.
The Lions are on yet another offensive coordinator for this year, but the offense doesn’t seem to be the problem. For the season, the team is putting up 31. 0 points per game. They are doing it with a combination of both the running game and passing game, so it isn’t like they are one-dimensional.
The problem seems to be a defense that is allowing 28. 3 points per game. In Week 1, they were able to get the stop they needed — it came after the Saints scored and were looking for a two-point conversion. Then they lost to Buffalo, allowing 41 points in the game. Against the Jets, they pulled out a win but still gave up 24 points.
The Panthers have had a wild start to their year. After making the postseason last year, they are trying to figure out how to get back there. The offense seems to be working for the team in most games, having scored 37, 34, and 17 points in their three contests. However, their defense hasn’t been consistent.
In the opening game, they allowed the Bears to get anything they wanted, and that included giving up 59 points. The next week, they held the Falcons to just three points. Last week, they played the Browns and were able to keep them to 21, but the offense couldn’t get enough to get past them.
Sunday Night Football should be a great battle between two teams that have plenty of offensive firepower, but might come down to which team can make a stop. Have a good feeling about a side or total?
