The men, aged 42 and 49, decided to take cover under the car when they heard a second explosion from a missile strike.

"This time, the vehicle in which they go out every day to save people's lives became a shelter for them. And it saved them," the centre shared.

Although the crew members survived, the paramedic sustained a blunt chest injury, a laceration to his left hand and acoustic barotrauma. The emergency medical technician was also injured, suffering an explosive trauma.

Despite his injuries, the medic continued to provide assistance to other people injured at the impact site. Both crew members were later taken to hospital.

The Kyiv City State Administration's Department of Health thanked the medics for their professionalism, courage and dedication, wishing them a speedy recovery.

"Emergency medical workers operate in difficult and dangerous conditions every day, saving people's lives. Their safety and them getting to come home after every call remain extremely important," the department said.
