All children evacuated from Sumy Oblast's border areas, but 34,000 civilians remain

All children have been evacuated from border areas in Sumy Oblast where mandatory evacuation has been ordered, but around 34, 000 civilians still remain there.

Source: Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Oblast Military Administration, in an interview with Ukrinform

Quote from Hryhorov: "Around 34, 000 civilians still remain there. They are all different people, and we are constantly explaining the situation to them. We regularly have two or three people refusing evacuation."

Details: Hryhorov recalled that residents of 213 settlements in the oblast are subject to evacuation. More than 57, 000 people, including 8, 000 children, have already been evacuated from these areas.

He also said that the regional administration is not currently planning to announce a mass evacuation for the winter from the oblast's major cities, including Sumy and Shostka.

Background: In June 2025, Hryhorov reported that more than 60% of residents had left border areas in the oblast. All residents had been evacuated from 60 settlements.
